Animal and Wildlife Paintings in Pastel and Oils
I have been painting for many years. I've had the privilege of taking workshops from accomplished and talented painters and photographers . A few of the artists that have guided me on this art journey are Gregory Kondos, Ann Dalbey, Lesley Harrison, April Visel, and my mother, Jeanne Endicott, who introduced me to the world of art.
I am working in Pastels, Oils, and Photography. I love the pure pigment of pastels. Pastels create a soft visual texture that compliments the animals fur. I also appreciate the creamy nature of oils. It's fascinating how each medium is applied so differently and how much I enjoy the process. I also have images of my Photography available for sale..
As a child we didn't have animals because my mother was allergic to them. So in my adult years I have owned and loved many dogs. I also took up Dressage and got to pursue my love of horses. Now I enjoy marrying the two loves of mine, animals and painting.
I find great inspiration in painting animals that have captivated our hearts. Whether it's a beloved pet or a wild animal, I believe a creative courage takes place as each painting unfolds. As I apply layers of pastel, or rich oils to give the painting vibrancy and a special life, I begin to love each animal that I paint. I get to know every hair, the shape of the mouth, the shine in the eyes, and the contour of the ears.
I feel a great responsibility to capture the true essence of an animal in a realistic way. A painting has special impact. It tells the story of the animal in a unique way. It becomes a mystical endeavor. I believe we honor the relationship we have with animals, when we give them a distinguished place on our wall in the form of a painting.
